Xiafei Wang, PhD

Xiafei Wang is an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at Syracuse University. Wang’s research focuses on unraveling mechanisms of intergenerational transmission of trauma and exploring the factors related to resilience development for trauma-affected individuals and families. Understanding parental mentalization and its influence on child development is a critical direction for Wang to study trauma and resilience.

 

Wang also examines the diverse factors of trauma and resilience, such as race, gender, disability, and military experiences, to inform culturally responsive trauma-informed programs. Wang has research and evaluation grants from the Health Resources and Services Administration, George W. Bush Presidential Center, the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues, the Big Cities Health Coalition, and the Syracuse University Office of Research."
